Hi Emily,
What you’re doing is so admirable, and I’m going to send you $100. One friend who’s done several medical missions to Africa is former Senator Bill Frist (who I wrote a book with), and I sense on the few occasions I’ve seen him lately that he got and continues to get more inner satisfaction out of saving lives in Africa than anything he did in the Senate or anywhere else (and he’s done 200+ heart and lung transplants). A few cousins have done things similar to what you’re doing in China and Latin America. I think it’s fair to say that you’re one of the students who I know and have always known is gonna make the world a better place!
Tell you what: Suppose I recommend you to my colleague and FB friend Mary Furgol as a potential FB friend. She thinks the world of you and you might get some money from her, but dont tell her I said that or that I pledged anything to you on her behalf. Then I want you to keep us posted while you’re there and tell us even more when you return, and that’s both the spiritual and secular versions. Let me know when your church presentation is and I’ll be there if I can. And, I may even invite you to talk to MC students about what you’ve been doing. One other thing: you be careful, ok.
Best, Lee
Emily,
Jeannette and I both fondly remember our various mission trips to Honduras, Russia, Dominican Republic, and the Carribean. Serving this way is going to encourage others so much! We will pray for you and support you with a gift of $100. Godspeed, the Stewart Family
